| Comments: | This week I visited Huron Township, Bruce County to find my great grandparents, John and Catherine McConnell's root. The available records show a John McConnell acquiring sqatter rights to Concession 4, Lot 1 and 2 in 1852 (I'll have to check records again) but census records don't show in the area until John and Catherine nee McDonald McConnell show up in the 1881 records. Thomas was Irish, John was Scottish so I'm unsure how or if they were related. Three of John and Catherine's children came with them to Alpena, Michigan in 1887. I found at least one Robert James (b 1880 d 1882) buried in the abandoned Huron Church cemetery southeast of Ripley. There are other Scottish and Irish McConnells in the Walterton and Kinloss area and am trying to identify if and how they are related.
By the way, we also lived near the Robinsons in Gaylord during the late 1980s. |

What a wonderful collection you have put together, Thanks. I would like to add one clarification...I found in the 1871 Ontario census that they listed Thomas's age at that time as 49, so that makes his birthdate 1822, not 1827.

| Comments: | hi again, vicky. wanted to let you know i'm a lyin' scum-suckin' dog. i told you in my earlier email that aunt sue (maureen) cronk's kids were michael and kathy, but you had it right. we've always known him as mike, but mom says his name is keith michael. also, their father's name was walter cronk. my mom is just thrilled to pieces about your website. she made me come home to find out whose line you were from. uncle sam and aunt loretta were your grandparents, right? i ADORED those two (and sophia loren - do you remember her?). i remember visiting with them for a week in mt. clemens, and they had one of their granddaughters come over to stay - i think it must have been karen, your sister, as we're the same age. anyway, mom wants to write to you, and is going to give your web address to uncle ted, as he has a TON of stuff on the family history.

| Comments: | hi vicky - just stumbled upon your website and fell in love. i'm headed over to meet my parents for lunch (Mary Lou [Harbourne] and Bob Zube) and tried to print some info for mom because she loves stuff like this, but some of the pages only print the headers. (my sister, gail, works for intel so i emailed her your url and sicc'd her on the project). anyway, this is awesome; i was assigned a family tree project in 6th grade and did quite a bit back then, but let it lapse quite a while back, so this was really cool to stumble upon. i'd love to send you info if you want to include it; i have quite a bit on morris harbourne's line. one error i noticed - my aunt sue (maureen kennedy/cronk) has two kids named michael (not keith) and kathy. aunt sue married their father (can't remember his first name but i'll find out) then i think they were adoped by her second husband, ray kennedy. anyway, you're doing a great job - thanks so much! robin |
